Award Nominations

CalRecycle’s 2013 Used Oil/HHW awards are intended to promote and recognize programs engaged in pollution prevention, hazard and waste stream toxicity reduction and recycling. This is accomplished by recognizing several programs, agencies, and individuals in various categories for their Used Oil/HHW program activities operating from January 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013. Awards will be made in each category as identified below based on nominations received on or before the entry deadline of close of business (5:00 p.m.) on September 27, 2013.  The Awards Committee reserves the right to award none, one or more award in each category based on the quality of the nominations received.

All awards will be presented during the 2013 Used Oil/HHW Training & Conference scheduled for October 28-31, 2013, at the Sacramento Convention Center in Sacramento, California. All attempts will be made to notify award recipients by October 4, 2013. The award recipient or designated representative is expected to be in attendance to accept the award.

Eligibility and Criteria

The awards are open to all California HHW, CESQG, used oil, and recycle-only collection programs. All are invited to submit nominations for their programs, processes, or people fitting the award category criteria. More than one entry may be submitted for each program, (i.e., a program may be nominated in more than one category). Program winners for the 2012 Awards CANNOT submit in the same category for 2013.

All nominees must be in good regulatory compliance.  This includes annual Form303, CUPA permit, UWR and CRT reporting requirements.

Nomination Evaluation

All nominees will be judged against the criteria listed for the award category. Nominations are reviewed for completeness by the Awards Committee. The Awards Committee reserves the right to either solicit additional information or return any incomplete nomination packages. All nominations and accompanying documentation received become the property of the Conference.

Submission Requirements

A separate nomination submission MUST be completed for each Award Category.  In the interests of waste minimization, please keep nominations brief (500 words, max).  Photos, videos and/or links to websites are strongly encouraged, and required in the case of Public Outreach/Education and Lighter Side Awards.  Please complete the online nomination form and upload any supporting documents, including photos, articles, videos, etc.

Award nominations and supporting documents will only be accepted electronically.

Submit a nomination
