March 2010: The RMDZ Program--More than Just Loans
Welcome

Dear RMDZ Workshop Attendee:

It is our pleasure to invite you to the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) Hilton Stockton “Zone Works” Training Workshop on March 10th. We are also excited to announce that this "Zone Works" training workshop is being held in conjunction with the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce’s REXPO VI: Greening Main Street at the Hilton on March 11, 2010.

The focus of this “Zone Works” is the RMDZ Program – More than Just Loans. The first workshop session will outline the various statewide RMDZ assistance, tools and resources, other than RMDZ loans, for California businesses. Presentations will highlight business assistance tools offered by CalRecycle, as well as other program partners. Once again, participants will gain experience from specific strategies for assistance presented by fellow Zone Administrators (ZA) in the Peer Share session. This session is designed to showcase and share effective and replicable local "non-RMDZ loan" zone assistance efforts.  Following Peer Share, CalRecycle staff will provide an overview and update on a number of CalRecycle business assistance programs that relate to RMDZ efforts, such as RecycleStore, CalMAX and WRAP. Based on participant feedback, the Zone Administration 101 session will address techniques for and examples of developing measurable outcomes for RMDZ activities. Of course, there will also be plenty of time for information sharing and networking throughout the event as well as during the early evening networking reception.

As a true example of business assistance, REXPO VI: Greening Main Street, will feature approximately 60 exhibitors and include two discussion panels, lunch and a keynote speaker.  Following lunch, there will also be tours for the ZAs and CalRecycle staff to local manufacturers of recycled-content products.

As you can see, this is a unique and timely opportunity to attend both Zone Works and REXPO!  So, please register today.

Arrangements for registration for both Zone Works and REXPO, travel, and one night’s hotel can be made by CSUS using the online registration process, by phone, or by mail. The cost for each of these will be automatically paid via each ZA’s Zone Incentive Funds (ZIF). You will not have to get pre-approval or submit a reimbursement for airfare, lodging, or registration. However, other expenses like mileage or airport parking will require submitting a reimbursement form, which will be provided at the workshop. Please also be aware, if an additional night’s lodging is required, you will need pre-approval from me prior to registering. Also, if you are a ZA and would like to use your ZIF monies to pay for a guest from your Zone to attend the workshop, my prior approval must be obtained. More instructions are forthcoming.

We look forward to a successful event and hope to see you in Stockton on March 10-11, 2010.  If you have any questions about Zone Works, please contact me at marshalle.graham@calrecycle.ca.gov or 916-341-6270.

Sincerely,
