Conference Goals

The 2015 Used Oil/HHW Training and Conference provides an opportunity for people who work on similar issues to share experiences and learn from one another. Government and businesses can explore new ways to work together and find creative ways to merge what has traditionally been thought of as separate approaches. The overall goals of the conference are to:

Work Together - Provide insight and experiences related to bringing together the efforts of those groups traditionally focused on governmental programs and those focused more on business programs to find synergies and ways to optimize collaboration.

Build Unity and Strength - Provide a venue for sharing, inspiring, learning, cross-training and networking for individuals interested in finding solutions among stakeholders within the federal, state, local jurisdictions, non-profits and businesses with changing environmental issues.

Share Best and Most Promising Practices in the Field - Present new technologies, proven approaches and successes that provide effective and targeted programs for local practitioners to put into practice in the community.

Support Change Efforts - Offer opportunities to dialogue on models for instituting systemic, programmatic and individual change in order to improve services, while discussing sustainability for what really works.

View the Landscape - Discuss the current environment, investigate services and programs which directly affect conference attendees and those they serve.

Selection Criteria

Session proposals will be reviewed by the Conference Planning Committee for content, presenter’s experience, description, summary, and how well they meet the following criteria:

• Demonstrate well-defined topics with focused objectives.

• Address the conference goals.

• Introduce innovative programs and services that local jurisdictions can implement.

• Present informative materials or tools that apply to communities or organizations, and can be transferred into practice.
